Uniform standards

We are very proud of our uniform and have high expectations of our students in terms of standards of appearance. Wearing a uniform creates a positive and professional atmosphere in the academy and conveys a positive image of our school in the community, fostering a sense of pride and belonging.

The following dress code applies to all students, without exception.

School Uniform

The following branded items can be purchased from Hamiltons

  • Academy blazer with logo
  • Academy tie
  • Pleated skirt

The following non-branded items can be purchased widely from retailers including second hand retailers:

  • Black full length tailored trousers
  • White shirt (tucked in)
  • Plain black shoes (no boots or sandals)
  • Black v-neck jumper (no cardigans) – optional

The academy blazer must be worn at all times on and around the site, unless permission is given by a member of staff to take it off, jumpers are optional

Final decisions regarding the suitability of uniform will be made by the Principal/Assistant Principals.

PE Kit

The following branded items can be purchased from Hamilton’s:

  • Academy polo shirt with logo
  • Academy mid layer – optional

The following items are non-branded and can be purchased widely from retailers including second hand retailers:

  • Plain black shorts, tracksuit bottoms or sports leggings
  • Trainers/suitable footwear

Guidance

  • All jewellery/watches must be removed for PE and handed to staff
  • Please place student name on all items of Academy uniform
  • Jewellery to be kept to a minimum (one ring per hand, one stud per ear, a wrist watch)
  • Long hair should be tied back for safety reasons in practical subjects

Forbidden in Academy

  • Smoking or smoking materials, drugs, substances and alcohol
  • Dangerous items including knives, catapults, fireworks, laser pens, toy guns, BB guns
  • Pornographic images
  • Chewing gum
  • Permanent marker pens
  • Body piercings, eg studs, rings, bars for nose/eyebrows/tongues etc
  • Extreme hairstyles and colours
  • Excessive make-up
  • False eyelashes
  • Acrylic/false nails
  • Short, layered skirts or split skirts
  • All hoodies, including those with a zip
  • Leggings, Lycra, cropped or tight trousers *except for sports leggings for PE
  • Caps
  • Cardigans
  • Denim and leather clothing
